Sexual Offending Risk Needs Assessment and Treatment (SORNAT)
SORNAT helps youth 12-17 with mild intellectual disabilities who have gotten into trouble for their sexual behaviour, so they avoid repeating it. Through a connected process of assessments, treatment, and family support, these youth gain the skills and understanding they need to make positive changes.

The SORNAT program helps youth with mild intellectual disabilities who have gotten into trouble for their sexual behaviour. It provides comprehensive assessment and treatment services to help them understand and overcome these behaviours, to set them up for future success.
Assessments
Before our team can recommend anything, they need to understand each personโs needs. That means reviewing information at intake, meeting with youth and their parents or caregivers, and completing clinical interviews and psychometric testing. Then, they develop a personalized treatment plan for each personโs unique needs.
Treatments
After the assessment, youths and their families get up to 2 years of counselling and coordinated support.
Because theyโre personalized, treatments look different for different people. They can include approaches like reducing social isolation, sexual education for youth and family, teaching consent, understanding the law, and more.
Throughout it all, we also help coordinate services so families get the right support along the way.
