Entry to School Program

For children ages 3-6 who have been diagnosed with Autism, have not yet entered school, and are preparing for their first school experience.

The Entry to School Program helps children build the skills, confidence, and routines they need to successfully transition into a school environment and begin their educational journey.

Through a structured, classroom-based learning experience, children participate in the Skill Acquisition Phase, a six-month program focused on developing school readiness skills. Children attend three-hour sessions, five days a week, in either a morning or afternoon classroom setting led by Classroom Facilitators and supported by a Transition Facilitator. Using the Entry to School curriculum, children learn essential classroom routines, social skills, communication skills, and strategies for adapting to a classroom environment. The Essential Skills Checklist is used to identify each child’s strengths and needs, guide individualized goal setting, and monitor progress throughout the program to support a successful transition to school.

Eligible participants must be registered with the Ontario Autism Program and have received an invitation letter to participate in the Entry to School Program.
